Let's pause, for menopause.

I had to have a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy on November 14. Very unexpected and totally unplanned. I have now been thrown into full menopause.

I'm nuttier than a bowl of Froot Loops!

Okay women, we need to more forth coming and honest about this menopause crap. I'd heard about hot flashes and mood swings, but did any of you warn me about being/thinking/doing violent things???? Pray for Blaine. That's it nothing specific, except maybe that he survives, I do love him.

I was putting the lid on an honest to goodness Tupperware brand bowl, that I got from Tanya

and the middle of the lid cracked.

When I tell you that I was just seconds away from hurling turkey rice soup all over my kitchen, you'd be smart to believe me!

Y'all can private message all you want but his stuff needs to be public!

I'm surprised more menopausal women aren't found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity!

I know there are drugs and homeopathic stuff out there, I'm going to work on which one is right for me. Feel free to share but don't be judgy if I decide on one you don't like. (Kisses!)

And by the way, when I have a hot flash and take my temperature, it's generally 99.6, just a tidbit of trivia. If you see me and my face is red, turn around and run the other direction!

This has been a public service announcement to ensure your safety during this holiday season.

Please go back to your regularly scheduled web crawling!

A blast from the past!

I was on the phone with my niece, Trysta, talking about Christmas dinner. She started talking about the broccoli cheese casserole that was always at Granny's or Mama's during the holidays.

I told her that several years ago our Aunt Olivia had scanned a copy of the recipe, that's in Mama's handwriting, and I would try to find it. It was the very first place I looked!

This is a transcript of what it says:
Broccoli Casserole
2 packages frozen broccoli
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 small onion, chopped
1 cup mayonnaise
2 eggs, well beaten
1 stick margarine
1 box croutons (onion & garlic flavored)
1 lb. cheese, grated

Cook broccoli. Drain. In large bowl, combine soup, onion, eggs, and mayonnaise. Fold in broccoli. Place in large casserole dish. Cover mixture with grated cheese. Cover with croutons, which have been mixed with melted butter. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes.

Edit from Robin: I remember her adding rice to it sometimes. I think she was making the ingredients stretch😎

The truth is still cold and hard

I always said, I'll be honest. It might not be obvious to you, but I've gained some weight, I weighed 283 this morning. In October, I had to have half of the fluid removed from my band.

I had to have this done because I'd been throwing up several times a week. This began in May when I got a stomach bug and was throwing up real bad. It felt like my band slipped. I gained some weight back then. I also went back to bad eating habits. Those bad foods were the ones that went down and stayed down. Let's not lie, they also taste mighty good too!

I finally went to the lap band doctor in October and she removed half my fluid and ordered an upper GI test for a month later.

OH DEAR ME! I hadn't realized how much the band was limiting my food intake! I suddenly became hungry all the time! Where I was used to just being able to eat a small amount, suddenly I could eat the whole burger AND the fries. NOT GOOD!

By the time my month had passed, I managed to gain 10 more pounds. The upper GI test came back with good results, no damage to my esophagus, stomach, or band. The band doctor added 2ml back to my band. I have an appointment in December to add more to my band. I'm ready to get back to small portions and feeling full again!

It's really disheartening to have gained back so much of what I had lost. All in all, I've gained back 20 pounds, from where I had leveled off. But I'll be back on track soon.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Can she bake a cherry cobbler?

This past week I went to visit my family in the hills of the Ozarks. Blaine and I went out to eat with my dad and Coco.

It was nice getting to visit. It's tough living 2 1/2 hours away. I also got to see my some of my cousins. While I was at their house Peggy made a fresh peach cobbler!

When I got back to my sister's house I told her about it and we started talking about our Momma's cobbler.

Last night, Tanya sent me a picture of her cobbler, she's mean!

Today, I'm making fresh cherry cobbler!

First, I halved and pitted a bunch of cherries. I put them in a pan with a fourth cup sugar, half cup water, dash of salt and a teaspoon of vanilla and brought to a boil.

Next a put a stick of butter in my pan and preheated the oven to 350 degrees.

In a bowl I put a cup of flour, cup of sugar, and a cup of milk and mixed well.
When the butter is all melted, pour in the flour, sugar, and milk mixture. Then, pour in the fruit.

Bake at 350 until golden, crunchy brown! Tastes real good with vanilla ice cream!

I'll let you know how it turns out!

Not bad, I must say!

P.s. my cousin Colby brought me back milk chocolate from Switzerland! He's the best! "Don't do drugs!"

Here I go again

I find myself, at random times, thinking I should blog about this.

I need to move the laptop downstairs. I just can't bring myself to type more than a paragraph on the iPad.

Funny things happen, things I'd like to share, questions I'd like to ask, advice I'd like to read, things I made, stuff I shouldn't have cooked, and all sorts of other stuff.

I'm not deluded, my life would never make a reality show, not exciting enough. And there's no way on God's green earth I would ever want to give Mama June and Honey Boo Boo a run for their money. There aren't enough beans and boiled cabbage for that!

I hate that I didn't share about the bed bugs in Florida, the topless swimming pool in Vegas, the David Copperfield show, Blaine's trip to Tiffany's, me nearly losing my mind during the spring semester. Maybe some of that stuff I need to forget!

I've gained some of my weight back, not enough to motivate me, but enough to kinda depress me. I know I need to find my motivation, maybe I'll find it by blogging again.

What's been going on with you?

p.s. here are some photos from our trip to Seattle.

Double Date Night

Tonight Blaine and I had dinner with my adopted niece, Kelly, and her feller Eric.

I had a great time. I also drank a margarita. I don't normally drink. I'm usually the designated driver! Tonight Blaine was driving, so I felt comfortable having ONE!

While we were out, we saw some of my other friends. I always love seeing people I know!

I'm also posting this from the blogger app on my phone. I wanted to see how it would do.
