Oh Happy Day

After I began this blog, I found out about AdSense. I decided to try it out. I agreed to not tell you, on here, how the money is made. But AdSense is responsible for the the ads that are placed on my blog. Today after four months, I got my first check from Google! They are the company that runs AdSense. You don't get a check until you have generated at least $100 dollars in earnings. I hit my $100 mark the end of April. Today the check came! There is a lag of one month. Don't do AdSense if you are needing money quick!

I don't write this blog for the money. I do it because I enjoy it and I wanted to share my Lap-Band journey. The money is a bonus!  Blaine and I were both having somewhat less than stellar days! This was just the pick-me-up I needed!

The end of school is tough on my nerves. Everybody is in a hurry and they need me to drop everything and answer their question RIGHT NOW. I don't do well with that kind of stress. I also goofed up and forgot to invite a couple of people to a retirement party for a couple of librarians. My brain is fried and I felt AWFUL! I didn't get to make it to the party either and that made me feel even worse. (The reason I didn't go was another part of our bad day.)

Four more days! I'm super excited!!! I hope to have lots of great trips and stories to share with you this summer. Even though it won't include a trip to Hawaii :(

Today's food:
Breakfast burrito, 3 donut holes, grapes, cantaloupe, and a strawberry
Broccoli and Chicken Lean Pocket (Blechh!)
Cheddar Crackers and BBQ corn chips
Salsa and chips, fish tacos, and refried beans
Small cherry slush

Question for today: What do parents do with their children in the summer? If you aren't a teacher or a Stay at Home Mom, what do you do with them?

Goodbye Egg Roll, I Love You!

This is how I started my day, at work. We are making up ANOTHER day we missed due to storms and flooding.

I am truly grateful to the men and women in the Armed Forces that have sacrificed for our country to have the freedoms we enjoy. Too many times, we take for granted that which others have sacrificed for us.

Today was a stress-filled day. My days will continue to be stress-filled until the last day.

Blaine told me that if I could find airfare, hotel, and car for $2000 we could take a vacation to Hawaii. I got super excited! I found it all to Maui for less than that. But then the grown up in my head started shouting, YOU'RE GOING TO NEED A NEW WASHER AND DRYER SOON! So now, I'm kinda deflated. I really want to go, but it's best that we stay home. Maybe next summer. By then I'll have lost more weight and the flight will be easier on me.

Today the cafeteria was serving fake McRibs and hot dogs. We opted for Chinese delivery. I ate rice and was fine. I saved my egg roll for when we got home. BAD IDEA. That sucker made me sicker than a dog! I only ate half and puked my guts up! As much as I love those egg rolls, that was my last for a very long time!

Tonight I had a salad with fresh tomatoes and onions from my pot garden and some macaroni and cheese. Everything sat well, I threw the rest of the egg roll away!

Bright, Bright, Sunshiney Day

I haven't felt much like blogging lately. I'm tired. I'm ready for school to be done. This time of year is my busiest in the library. Trying to get all the library books and text books back and shutting down for the summer dominates my life.

Yesterday we went to see "Hangover 2" with friends Char, Larry, and a friend of theirs. Loved the movie. It's crass, explicit, and not for those easily offended. It's not as funny as the first, but I spent plenty of time laughing!

We had a late lunch at Genghis Grill. Brought home a to-go box that was full! After lunch we went to visit Aunt Olivia. She seems to be doing pretty good, I've been worrying about her lately.

Have you ever heard that people with creased ear lobes have a higher risk of having heart problems? Blaine's mom told us that yesterday. I googled it when we got home, sure enough, it's a legit sign!

We got the munchies about 9 last night and ordered a Papa John's thin crust pizza. YUM! It was also breakfast this morning!

We went to see "Pirates of the Caribbean: Stranger Tides." Not my favorite. I could have waited until it was on Starz.

Lunch with the in-laws, Boston Butt, Baked Beans, Seasoned Greens, and potato salad. It was all good!

After a nap, we went to the Memphis Zoo. Tonight was their members only Zoo at Night from 6-9. I got a new zebra bag and a Christmas ornament from their sidewalk sale.

We've had a good and busy weekend. Tomorrow we work. We work every day this week. Friday we work until 6pm! Saturday we work. I believe this will be the never-ending week!

I haven't said much about my band lately. That's because it isn't bothering me nearly as much. I still get stuck occasionally, but nothing like I was.

I weighed this morning and I was at 285. That's down 42 pounds! woot woot!

My weight loss has slowed down. I'm okay with that. What I wasn't okay with was when I gained three pounds. I lost it again plus another pound. I'm definitely seeing a difference in my clothes. When I went to the concert the other night, I walked straight to the venue without wanting to pass out! I haven't really noticed an increase in my energy, but my knees aren't hurting as much or as often!

My plan is to increase my exercise. It hasn't been near what it should. I'll do better.

p.s. My friend, Sara, has gotten me hooked on 4square. Friend me!

The Sweet Tea Song and a recipe for Strawberry Delight

Today is Show Us Your Life - Desserts at Kelly's Korner
Here is my recipe for Strawberry Delight
1 large container frozen sweetened sliced strawberries
1 large container of cool-whip like substance

Mix together. Refrigerate and serve in a fancy dish! (The fancy dish is necessary so people will think you worked super hard on this tasty dessert!) Try not to stick your head in the mixing dish to lick it out. I love this stuff!
Back to our regularly scheduled blog:

I have to tell ya, the past two days have been fast and furious! I dislike missing work. When I come back, it's like I've been gone for a month. Stuff is messed up, things are piled on my desk, and it seems like everybody needs something from me ASAP. We didn't leave work until almost 4:30.

I just sat down when we got home. I call it decompressing! I didn't have much time. I had to get ready for the concert! My friend Shirey had tickets to Uncle Kracker, Billy Currington, and Kenny Chesney.

I am not a fan of country music. I didn't even know Uncle Kracker was considered "country", I'd never heard of Billy Currington, and I didn't know ANY of the lyrics to Kenny Chesney's "original" songs. I went because Shirey asked me to go. That's what friends do.

This is our view from our blankets on the lawn.
My camera has an AWESOME zoom. Here's Uncle Kracker

There were tons of country "outfits!" Lots of hats and boots!
Here's a view of the 'lawn' and a rockin' outfit.

This is Billy Currington. He sings a song that mentions Sweet Tea! McCallister's had a Sweet Tea TENT at the concert. SAHWEET! Here's the woman in a shirt so tight I could count her fat rolls and cellulite dimples. Seriously, who told her "Ya look good in that tight yellow shirt, definitely concert wear!"?? who did that to her?
Here's Shirey! Cheesin' for the camera. In the picture are the skinny, beer drinking girls. (more about them later!)
I was so excited when we finally got inside the part at Snowden Grove! They had PRONTO PUPS!! My ultimate fair food! I ate a foot long and drank a bottle of water. Shirey had a burger and fries. I got a little bored. (Did I mention I don't listen to country music?) So I entertained myself with what I had! A pronto pup stick, and empty water bottle, and a plastic fry container. Here's the result:

Shirey having a blast. I'm glad she told me to bring a sweater, it got chilly!
Poor under-dressed skinny girls had to drink more beer to keep warm. They were also practicing dance moves better left in the strip club!
Everybody is getting excited  for Kenny's show!

Lots of rude people kept stepping on our blankets. I made it my mission to make it as difficult as possible for them!

Okay, here's where the excitement starts. The skinny girls decide to stand in front of these nice ladies. They politely asked them to move. They told them that the grass in front of their blanket was for a walk way path, and not a place for uppity, skinny, beer drinkers to stand.
Uppity, Beer-Drinking, Skinny girls leave and return with taller, uppity, beer-drinking girls.
 Nice ladies are FED up!
Nice lady pushes tall, uppity, beer-drinking, girls and stands in front of them because they are ruining her happy "kenny-buzz"
Tall, uppity, beer-drinking, skinny girls go and get polite, sober, short, good-looking cops. I pull one of the cops to the side and tell him what my version of the truth is and to leave the nice ladies alone and make the evil skinny women go eat a cookie so they'll be nice! It all makes me think of the scene from Fried Green Tomatoes when Kathy Bates crashes her car at the grocery store! LOVE IT!

Oh yeah, here's the ending! Uppity, beer drinking, skinny girls leave, nice sober ladies pull the blanket up. Now there is no grass in front of their blanket, skinny girls are back in their original 'spot' and the concert goes on without anybody being arrested. What I find funny is that I was seriously flashing them with the camera and taking pictures the whole time and nobody seemed to mind :-D I love confrontations, as long as I'm not involved!
This little fella was hilarious. He watched the whole uppity, beer-drinking, skinny women drama and was not on their side. Although, I do believe he got several eye-fulls while he sitting on the blanket next to where the skinny girls were standing!
 More Kenny
It was a GREAT show. I still don't know any of the words!
 Mechanical Bull outside the amphitheater.
 Ride'em Cowboy
Don't lose yer hat!

There Goes My Life

That's the title to one of Kenny Chesney's songs. I'm going to see him in concert with my friend, Shirey, tomorrow night. It's an outdoor concert, should be interesting!

Today I drove FOREVER to Helena to watch a DVD about Lexiles. I wish they could have mailed me the DVD and I would have watched, I swear I would have! I went with three other librarians to lunch. I had a great time with them! We shared loaded fries and I had Fried Catfish Tacos. They were okay.

I went with Blaine to the District's Faculty Awards Program. Blaine received his 15 year pin for service to the district. He's been in education for 22 years total.

We were afraid there were gonna be big, bad storms tonight. We had a little rain, some marble-sized hail, and a little wind. No damage at our house, we'll see how the rest of town fared tomorrow.

Today I woke up and my left hand was hurting and swollen. I almost didn't get my rings off! It got worse as the day went on. I couldn't unhook my bra, it was that bad! All I can figure out is that I forgot to take my medicine last night (Blood Pressure and diuretic). I didn't pee all day! Hopefully it'll all be better tomorrow!

Today's Food:
Breakfast: Pound Cake
Lunch: Loaded Fries, Fried Catfish Tacos
Dinner: Fried Chicken Leg, mashed potatoes, carrots, broccoli and cheese, banana pudding
Snack: Mexican Chicken

Tomorrow I'm going to Helena for a work meeting. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy! That's all I'm saying! This seems like the never-ending week!

Today's food:
Breakfast: 1/2 polish sausage and biscuit (I got stuck on the first two bites)
Lunch: Lasagna, Popeye salad
Snack: Ramen noodles, Mandarin Oranges
Dinner: Rotel Dip, Jerk Chicken Nachos, Pink Martini

OLD LIBRARIANS never die, they just check out

Tonight was supposed to be a dinner at Colton's for two of our retiring librarians. Lack of communication and snafus happened. It was just Ouida and me for dinner. We had a great time. We always do!

I'm starting to pack the library up for the summer. I still have lots to do, but I feel like I'm making progress.

Today was much better food-wise. I didn't feel like I was constantly hungry and needing to eat. Woohooo!

Today's food:

Breakfast: Small piece of ham, 2/3 of a biscuit
Lunch: Fried chicken leg and 1/2 of a Lenny's club sub
Snack: Fig Newtons and Reduced Fat Doritos
Dinner: Side Salad with Ranch and Blackened Tilapia

After dinner I went to Kroger and bought the groceries for tomorrow night.

Busier Than a Long-Tailed Cat in a Room of Rocking Chairs

It's going to be a very busy week for me!

Monday is our party for the retiring librarians. I also have to finishing cleaning on the house and go to the store for party supplies.

Tuesday I am hosting a Pampered Chef Party at my house. (if you are interested in ordering something, follow this link, click "shop online" then put in my first and last name so I get "credit"!) If you know where I live, you're welcome to attend! 6:30pm Tuesday night!

Wednesday I'm having to travel to a meeting for school.

Thursday I'm going to see Kenny Chesney with a friend.

Friday is Activity Day at school.

During all this 'stuff', I'm also working on finishing the school's DVD yearbook. I need to have it done by next week so I can sell it to the kiddos.

I'm sure there's something I've forgotten. I've been working on the house today and Blaine's been a trooper. I fixed a crock pot of soup and we ate on it most of the day. I sent a big bowl full of it to my in-laws.

It's about time for bed, I'm going to need all the sleep I can get!

Today's food:
Soup, soup, and more soup
10 saltine cracker
2 packages of Newton's Fun Crisps (100 calories each)
Salad with fresh from the pot tomatoes! Croutons and Fat-free sun-dried tomato dressing!
1/2 of a Lenny's Sub Club sandwich on Wheat- Loaded

Have a great day! I'm not letting my weight gain get me down. I'm just more determined to get it back off!

We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.

Yesterday was a long day. We had to make-up one of our storm/flood days. We got off work at 2:15. We went home and vegged out. I started a pot of beef vegetable soup in the crock pot, then began cooking dinner. We had chicken tenderloins, mashed potatoes, green beans, and broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots in a light cheese sauce.

About 7:00pm I started getting ready for the prom. Nothing too fancy. I just wanted to get some pictures for our school's yearbook/DVD. Most of the students looked really nice! I took pictures until my camera battery died. After they passed out the Who's Who Awards, the lights went low, and the music got louder,  I headed for the house :)

This morning I weighed. The past few days of eating myself silly showed on the scales. I weighed 289. That's a gain of 3 pounds. I'm still down 38 pounds.

Now that my foot is finally starting to fill better, I'm hoping to start walking with Blaine again. I know I'll feel better if I just get up and start moving more.

Today I need to be cleaning on the house. I'm having a Pampered Chef party here Tuesday night. I'm seriously not motivated to clean. Blechh! Hopefully I'll get motivated soon!

Yesterday's Food:
2/3 Sausage McMuffin
1/2 Spring Roll
Rat-on-a-stick
6 inch Sub Club on Wheat
Chicken Tenderloin
Green Beans
Mashed Potatoes
Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots in a light cheese sauce
Cooked Veggies, no meat
