Time is making fools of us again. ~J.K. Rowling

As I sit here typing this, I know I should be up and getting my bags packed. I have not packed ONE SINGLE ITEM! I am such a procrastinator.

After five years of marriage, Blaine has finally begun to accept that this is just part of who I am. I will be up until midnight, or later packing my bag. I don't know why, it's just part of who I am.

I will also repack his bag. I know, it's crazy. I just like repacking it and then, cramming it full with my stuff :)

I tend to over pack. I have an irrational fear of running out of clean clothes or not having what I want to wear.

I can hear the dryer drying and the washer washing. Don't you know, the clothes I want to pack are still in the hamper!!!

I still have to find all the cords for our phones, iPods, computer, and the iPad! You know I can't travel for more than a couple of days with out my "stuff!"

Don't forget Fluffy will be here. As always, the in-laws will be over daily to removed the bones of the dead bodies, we always leave Fluffy wanting more!

I'm seriously excited about visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The only thing I'm worrying about is whether or not my big butt will fit into the roller coaster seats. I'm thinking about taking a baggy of Crisco with me and rubbing it on the sides of the seats! Good or bad, I will let you know how it goes. I'll definitely be drinking a butter beer and ponying up for the souvenir cup!

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!

We had a great weekend and we're looking forward to an even better week! Yesterday, we drove to Poplar Bluff, Missouri. My longtime friend, Lori, got married (eloped) this summer. They had a big reception to celebrate the nuptials last night.

During our trip we passed this cute little smart car. I'd love to ride in one, but not on the interstate. I think I'd pee in my pants every time we were near a semi!

We got to the hotel and what a surprise! Little did we realize that we would be staying with a celebrity at the Holiday Inn:
Wonder Woman!!!!!
We checked in and got all gussied up for the reception. I wanted to put my best foot forward. This would be my first time meeting Lori's husband IRL (in-real-life), we've been Facebook friends for several months.

There were a couple of former colleagues from my days with the Paragould School District. I had a wonderful time visiting with them and catching up on their lives. "Hey Trish and Linda!!!"

Lori reminded people that she was on the interview committee that hired me for my first job. It's hard to believe we've been friends for 18 years!! She's an awesome friend. Glen is a lucky man to have a woman, that great, love him. I guess I'll let them stay married. But beware Glen, you mess with her and you mess with me and whoever else I can find to join in my posse. :) I can be quite formidable when angered! (Just Kidding!) (Not really!!!)
Today's lunch was at Lambert's Cafe, the place where they have "throwed rolls." The food was okay, the rolls were hot, and I brought home a full to-go box.
They have workers walking through the restaurant with "pass arounds," fried okra, black-eyed peas, fried potatoes and onions, and tomatoes and macaroni noodles. The mac and tomatoes had bell peppers and way too much sugar, the others were very good!
Blaine had a good time catching his "throwed roll"

Not bad, especially when they pour molasses all over it!

The fried catfish was excellent. The cucumbers and onions had a bunch of sugar in them, I didn't eat them.

This is how much of my plate I brought home! There are a bunch of fried potatoes under the back roll!
We were so glad to get home. We snacked on the leftovers and I had some chopped fresh tomato (from my MIL's plant), crumbled bacon, and some ranch dressing! OMG it was delicious!
I need some help. This stuff on my face is getting worse. I have an appointment with the dermatologist in two weeks, but it's really starting to bother me. I'm contemplating rubbing my face down with Neosporin. Any suggestions? It itches. It burns when I wash my face. It doesn't feel like any "breakout" I've ever had. It is on both sides, but the left side is worse tonight. My forehead is also kinda scaly. YUCKO!!!

I don't know what to do. The only thing that I can think of that's changed, is that I'm no longer taking my BC pills. My face NEVER did this before I started taking them 5 years ago. Getting old bites!

Thanks for all the bloggy love you show!

God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. - Garrison Keillor

My week in pictures. These are all the pictures I took and finally uploaded and downloaded and sideloaded....
The wonderful food at Jeorge's birthday fiesta. It was soooooo yummy!
In front of the Hernando DeSoto Bridge at the Peter Frampton concert.

The boxes of books that made my week!

I did NOT eat all of these cupcakes. I did eat 1/2 of each one over three days. Banana Pudding, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Strawberry, and Margarita. Westside Cupcakes are delish!

Peter Frampton, live. He wanted to show us the way. I wanted the way to a warm place!

I had to give a urine, blood, and tissue sample before I was allowed to purchase this! I am now prepared for winter crud season!

Jeorge, the birthday boy! Look closely, our eyes are the same color in this pic.

The Memphis skyline from the Mud Island Amphitheater.

Rockin' my panda hat!

Red beans and rice, very nice!

Procrastinate now, don't put it off!

I haven't been blogging regularly. We've been keeping the road hot and staying pretty busy. I have all these pictures that I took, I haven't uploaded or downloaded a single one. I haven't been feeling particularly motivated toward blogging, or much else.

I have no desire to clean the house, hang up clothes, clip coupons, shop, or blog. I just want to sit and read or watch television. I don't want to cook or clean the kitchen. I don't wanna do the laundry. Maybe I have the "blahs." I need to snap out of it!

I'm going to visit my friend Lori this weekend and I FINALLY get to meet her husband! He'll have to pass inspection or they'll be filing for an annulment!

I'll get working on the house, with Thanksgiving here, I'm planning on taking it one room at a time! Blaine is awesome and does a great deal. He's patient with me and knows how much I detest housework. He knew I was a "messy Marvin" when he married me!

What do you do when you aren't motivated? Are you able to self-motivate? (Is that like self-medicate?) What gets your motor running?

Old Teachers Never Die, they just lose their class.

Find a teacher and hug them. Unless you are one, you have no idea what Parent Teacher Conferences are like! Now that I'm a librarian, it's not that bad. I still see what the others are going through.

You have parents coming in mad because there child is flunking your class, parents that are mad because, according to their child, you are picking on them, parents that aren't concerned that their child is in trouble every day. You don't get just one parent, you get up to 100 parents in six hours or less.

I do realize there are some teachers that are unreasonable, don't like your child, or don't teach like they should. What I want parents to realize is that children exaggerate, leave out facts, or just flat out and convincingly lie. Most of the time, teachers don't have a reason to lie. Kids do, they don't want to get in trouble. That's a pretty good reason.

Also, having teachers work a full day with the kids and then stay until 8pm on a Monday is mentally tough. Going to work the next morning is tough. But we do it. I still love my job. I'm glad I do what I do, almost every single day.

Today I got FOUR boxes of new library books in. It was like Christmas! I opened them up and was so excited!!! I can't wait to get them processed and checked out to the students!!

p.s. I realize I haven't talked about my band much lately. I haven't lost or gained any weight. I'm just hovering at 269. I still don't feel I'm ready for another fill. I do have FOUR different medical appointments this month. The gynecologist, the dermatologist, the bandoligist :), and the opthamologist.

My blood pressure has been consistently low lately. I'm wondering if I need to have my BP meds cut again or maybe it's time to stop. I've also had some weird stuff on my face. I'm wondering if I have eczema. I don't know. After this, I'd like several months of no doctor at all! I'm having problems reading the tiny stuff at work. I'm afraid I'm going to need bifocals!

I do realize I need to get back to drinking water and lay off of the juice and tea. I need to exercise. I need to make better food choices. There are plenty of ways for me to improve!

Love you all!

Sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head, fever, so I can rest medicine... where is it?

I don't feel good. I've felt crappy all day. I don't know if it's because of my flu shot, Aunt Flo is here, or I just have the crud.

I'm whiny. I'm tired of being stopped up. My joints all ache. I've stayed in pjs all day!

I did cook some red beans and rice. I sent some to Blaine's parents. That's about all I accomplished today. Oh yeah, I did finish reading World War Z. I liked it, it was definitely different.

Tomorrow is Parent Teacher Conferences. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!!!!

Pray for all of us!

Frampton comes alive!

I didn't freeze at the concert, but I wasn't hot! Can you believe that there wasn't a single HOT drink for sale? Plenty of beer, sodas, water, and some really good lemonade, but not coffee or hot chocolate????

I wore my Panda hat. I'll post all the pics tomorrow. I'm too tired/lazy to upload them all right now.

I'll leave you with a couple of clips from the concert:

This was the one song I actually knew the words!

This was the longest song I have EVER heard played in a concert. We left after this song. I had to use the bathroom and wanted to go home because of all the clothes I had on!!!

Frampton: Freezing Alive

We are going to see Peter Frampton live tonight on Mud Island. For those of you not from this area, it is an OUTDOOR event. The low tonight is supposed to be in the 30's!! I'm trying to get excited, but not quite there yet.

My plan is to have several layers, both top and bottom. Thank goodness I haven't gotten rid of all my "too big" clothes! They'll be easier for layering.

I'll try and get some good pictures with my phone. Hopefully, I won't be shaking too bad from the cold.

This will be the first time we've been back to Mud Island since our first "date" in 2005. Ahhhh, the memories.

The only sure thing about luck is that it will change.

I'm so hyped up, I don't think I'll be able to sleep! We went and played trivia. At the end of the first round we were tied for first! Then we missed two crazy questions. The crazy part is that we had the right answer down and then put a different answer.

We were really discouraged and figured that we had lost our hold on the lead. We didn't miss a single question after that! We were in first place by 20 points before the final question, A SPORTS QUESTION! There was no way we were going to get it right. We didn't risk any points (It's kind of like Final Jeopardy.) One of the teams in second place got it right and tied us for first.

Now we had to do a tie-breaker question. IT WAS ANOTHER SPORTS QUESTION! We are HORRIBLE at sports. "How many career rebounds did Charles Barkley have?"

Seriously? The other team was a group of 4-5 guys. I figured there was no way we could beat them. I told Blaine let's reason it out:

*I said there are about 50 games per season. (Actually, from my research it is 82.)
*I figured Barkley played about 20 years. (According to ESPN it's 16)
*I guessed that he averaged about 15 per game. (According to ESPN, it's 11.7)
*I multiplied all that and put down 15000 as our answer.

According to this website, he had 12,546. Not a bad guess. The other team guessed 9,000. Wow, we won first place again! I was just giddy!!! I bounced all over the building!!!

We went to get our "play money" and the lady at the counter remembered my name! On our last $10 of winnings I hit a bonus!!!!! I'm jittering, I'm so excited

The feeling you get from winning, whether it be from trivia or a bonus spin, is addictive! I understand how people can get addicted to gambling. You win and you want to keep having that feeling. But, it's even better when you don't have to risk your own cashola!!!!

Skinny cooks can't be trusted!

I went to Kroger and bought some canning jars, spices, sugar, vinegar, and onions. When we got home I picked all my little green tomatoes!
I washed them and chopped them up.
Next I chopped a purple onion and a few yellow onions. My hands were stinking!!! I read that if you wash your hands while rubbing them with something stainless steel it will help the odor to go away... it works!!!

I added the tomatoes, and the onions to my pot. Then I added sugar, vinegar, brown sugar, turmeric, mustard seeds, minced garlic and pickling spice.

I was going to add some celery seed, but I thought I'd forgotten to buy it at the store. Of course, I didn't forget, I just didn't see that I'd left in it the bag :( I decided to spice things up a little and added a few jalapenos to the pot.
Next I brought this mix to a rolling boil, turned it down, and let it simmer for 30 minutes. I'm mixing two different recipes for this stuff!

I sure do hope this tastes good!

Happy Birthday Ouida!

Yesterday was my friend Ouida's birthday! She's year younger but sooooo much wiser! I cherish her friendship and her advice. To me she is a saint :) We went to Nagasaki Japanese Steak house to celebrate. I had a great time visiting with her and I at more food than I've been able to in a long time! It was soooooo good. I still brought home a to-go box. I didn't get too nuts!

Any suggestions on how to be more alert in the mornings. I don't remember having ever been a morning person. It's just best to leave me along for at least an hour or two after I wake up. I don't think well, I'm not very patient or tolerant, and I'm downright cranky.

I get plenty of sleep, usually at least eight hours if not more.

Give me your best tips!

Pickle Chicken: The finale!

Yesterday  we went to visit Dad & Coco. Tuesday is their anniversary, so we took them out to a super fancy dinner at Large Mouth Pizza! It was very good and I was bad and ate part of a chocolate fried pie and most of a piece of pizza.

We had a good time visiting with them. This morning we got up and went to church and listened to Dad preach. After church we headed back to the Delta. We stopped at Tadpole's and had lunch. I really enjoyed the fish, it was very tender and easy to eat. I enjoyed most everything else too!

I dropped Blaine off at the house and I headed to Wally World! I bought some vegetable oil and a Cool Daddy Fryer! It's Pickle Chicken time!!! If you missed the first part of Pickle Chicken you can read about it here.
Isn't it pretty?
I mixed up some beer batter for the chicken, dredged some of it, and cooked some nekkid!

First off you have to take the chicken out of the pickle juice and pat it dry. Julia Child says this is a must! All hail Julia!

Notice the lovely yellow-green color? This is a good thing!
I cooked the chicken strips nekkid on George. I was trying for a "healthy" spin.
I must admit the nekkid chicken was very chewy and not very appetizing. Neither one of use could eat it. (Sorry Lisa A.!)
I was disappointed in the nekkid chicken.

Next up was the beer batter chicken. The batter was a bit thick, even though I added more beer than it called for, trying to thin it up.
It looks really pretty but it was just a bit much. After I realized how the battered chicken was turning out, I took the rest of the legs out of the batter, rinsed them off, patted them dry and dredged them though some seasoned flour.
Blaine tried all three and this was his favorite by far!!! Props to Blaine for being an awesome Guinea Pig.
