"You've reached middle age when all you exercise is caution."

I'm rocking the Jay Leno chin pose tonight, dannng!

Today was Day 6 of our Summer Vacation. Naps, Deep Dish Pizza, and coupons were on the schedule for today.

The nap was long, the pizza was okay, and I had about $40 in coupons. My score of the day was at Wal-Mart. I had Buy One Get One Free coupons for Pantene products. They had shampoo and condition with a FREE bottle attached! I got EIGHT bottles of shampoo and conditioner for $9.94. I was pleased!

After Wal-Mart we headed to Kroger and I used a bunch of coupons that were about to expire. I'll use everything I bought, eventually!

Do you use coupons?

“Age is not a particularly interesting subject. Anyone can get old. All you have to do is live long enough.”

Getting old is something for which I never prepared.

I never thought I'd need to participate in teacher retirement, because I never imagined being old enough to retire. (I've since rectified that mode of thinking.)

I traded cars because I couldn't imagine ever paying one off. (It's awesome!)

I didn't save money because I had credit cards and I'd never live long enough to pay anything off. (Oh the joy of living debt free!)

I didn't use moisturizer or sunscreen because I'd never be old enough to have wrinkles or large brown spots on my face that aren't cute like freckles!

Today I went to Dillard's and bought this:

This is the stuff where they have the spotted egg and eventually the spots disappear. I'm going to try it until my little bottle runs dry. I'm going to take a picture of my face every day and see if my giganto brown spots lighten up or disappear.

I don't think of myself as a vain person. I don't insist on wearing make-up every day or "fixing" my hair. I happy with a clean face and ponytail. But I looked at my face today and was bothered by what I saw. So, I'm going to try this. If it works, it'll be worth what I paid and I'll probably buy some more!

Have you ever used this stuff?

FYI I was not given this stuff or asked to review it. I paid for it (boy did I pay!)

If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?

Day 4 of our summer vacation has been pretty awesome!

Blaine and I went to the bank this morning and got a certified check. We headed to the post office and sent it off Priority Mail. This check is the LAST one I anticipate sending off to the bank holding our mortgage! I can't express the feeling I have of having paid off this house. I think I will celebrate every month!

I celebrated by picking some of my basil and cooking it with some tomatoes and other herbs and spices. I baked some breaded chicken breasts and noodles. Chicken Mozzarella a la Robin!

Basil - fresh from the pot garden!

Tomatoes, basil, onions, garlic, oregano, and anything else I thought would be good.

Chicken Mozzarella a la Robin. I used Mozzarella because I discovered I don't really like Parmesan.
I fixed a plate for my in-laws and Blaine took it over. My friend Stacy came over to share our dinner. I even made her a to-go box for her lunch/dinner tomorrow. I even went all out for dessert and broke out the ice cream sandwiches.

This was technically our first day of summer vacation. I did get a phone call today and go to school. It was nothing stressful, but I'm glad I got it done!

My family reunion is coming up soon! Can't wait to see them!

School's Out for Summer - Alice Cooper

Tona is modelling my new bag from Thirty-One. I think it'll be awesome going through the airports and in Las Vegas!

I've discovered I really like avocados.

My friend Pam retired and I threw her a little retirement party. I made a yummy ice cream sandwich cake!

This is my tomato Tommy. He was the first harvest of the season. He was delicious!

Basil and Rosemary, they sure are growing!

My tomato plants are growing like crazy! They never got this big last summer!

Cucumbers and Eggplant. Both have blooms. I sure hope they make!

I have about FORTY tomatoes growing. I want to try making some fresh spaghetti sauce.

I couldn't resist buying this!

Last day of school. Celebrating with the Tech and GT department! Amber loves me :)

Zombie walk 2012

Our favorite zombies

Pammy gave me her Pimp Glasses as a going away present. I'm sure going to miss her!

All dolled up for Sharon and Alan's wedding

Tomatoes gone wild. I went and bought some bamboo poles and some twine to help tie them up. I had some on the ground and didn't want tomato paste.

“The bigger the summer vacation the harder the fall”

I know it feel like forever since I last posted. So much has been going on and I just haven't felt like climbing the stairs to get on the laptop. I really need to just take it downstairs. I think that would help :)

I have a bunch of pictures....
At my cousin Sharon's wedding.

Hotter than a firecracker at the Memphis in May Beale St. Music Festival

Blaine's first MIM Music Fest. Celebrating with a turkey leg!

That time of year, former students turning into grown-ups.

Blossom End Rot struck one of my tomato plants :(

Former Student Ashley, thanks for inviting me!

One of my professors from Williams Baptist College. It was nice to run into her!

My garden is growing!

and so is Caleb! Hard to believe he's so big!

More Music Fest

See my "stripe?" it was HOT!
I have not been eating right or exercising. This showed when I finally visited with the nurse practitioner. I haven't lost any weight in months. But I'm not gaining. No more band tightening until I decide to "do right."

On a happy note, the air in the library finally was fixed! School is out for the summer and I'm going to enjoy every day!

More pictures and words to follow!

* Food is an important part of a balanced diet. - Anonymous

The AC still isn't fixed at work. Tomorrow is supposed to be the day! Pray for NO RAIN. If it sprinkles the repairman will not go on the roof!

We won at trivia last night! All that useless knowledge is finally paying off!

New plants before going into the new pots!

Jalapeno and Cayenne Pepper plants

Cucumbers and Blaine's eggplant plant. This pot is HUGE! It comes to my kneecap!
Tonight's dinner. Pork Tenderloin with scratch milk gravy, boiled squash and zucchini, black-eyed peas with tomatoes, onions, and bits of jalapeno, and baked potato with butter.

I'm happy to report that wascally wabbit has not been back into my raised garden bed! Otherwise, Hasenfeffer was going to be on the menu! I have THIRTEEN green tomatoes on my plants! I'm super excited. One of them is HUGE and is going to be super yummy on a sammich!

If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?

Hotter and hotter. My principal informed me today they are supposed to begin working on the AC tomorrow. Thank goodness!

More paperwork to do. Should have it all behind us by this weekend. Anybody going to see The Avengers?

Tonight we ate at Mi Pueblo. My food was awesome. My battery died or I would upload the awesome photos!

I also got a couple of new pots and dirt. I planted cucumbers, squash, zucchini, eggplant, cayenne and jalapeno peppers. I have about 10 tomatoes in the works. So much different from last year.

I'll post pictures tomorrow!
